When Grooming Gets Out of Paw
Cats are pretty good at keeping themselves clean—until they’re not. Long-haired cats get tangled fast. Older cats might stop grooming themselves completely. And some cats just don’t tolerate brushes, clippers, or even your well-meaning hands.
Even a simple nail trim can turn into a wrestling match. Mats form before you know it, and shedding season can feel endless. If your cat has started hiding more, scratching at their ears, or protesting every time you try to help, it might be time to call in a pro.
We get it—some cats are just extra. That’s exactly who we’re here for.
Ignoring Grooming Isn’t Just a Furry Problem
Skipping routine grooming doesn’t just affect how your cat looks. Matted fur can pull on their skin, causing pain and even infections. Overgrown nails may curl into their paw pads, making it painful to walk. Dirty ears or flaky skin might be early signs of something more serious.
Stress from neglect can also affect your cat’s behavior. They might stop eating, start hiding, or lash out unexpectedly. It’s easy to think they’re just “being weird,” but cats often act out when they’re uncomfortable. These issues won’t go away on their own—and home grooming isn’t always safe or practical.
If your cat is hard to handle or you’ve been putting off that grooming appointment, you’re not alone. And you’re in the right place.
Our Cat-Only Grooming and Boarding Services
At Fur Real, cats are the only species we serve. We’re the only feline-exclusive groomer in our co-op space, and that’s exactly how we like it. No high-volume chaos. Just expert-level cat care in a calm, clean environment.
We offer full grooming services tailored to your cat’s needs—whether it’s a light trim, a full lion cut, a de-shedding treatment, or a flea bath. Need us to give meds during the appointment? We do oral and topical administration at no additional cost.
Every cat must have up-to-date rabies and feline distemper vaccines before their visit. We require proof upon booking.
Call us
if you have any questions about the vaccines.
Going out of town? Our
cat-only boarding service provides a quiet, secure space for your cat to stay while you're away. Each cat gets their own area, clean litter, and personal attention. We do not board diabetic cats. We
can provide medication if needed, as long as instructions are provided.
Why Cat Owners Choose Becky's
Not every groomer knows how to work with cats. We do. We’ve trained extensively in handling fractious, anxious, and senior cats, and we take the time to learn each cat’s unique triggers and preferences.
Please note: We do not use or administer sedatives. If sedation is needed, it must be arranged through your veterinarian before the appointment.
There’s no conveyor-belt system here. Every grooming appointment is built around your cat’s comfort. We use soft voices, quiet tools, and feline-specific techniques to get the job done without overwhelming them.
Our boarding space is equally chill. Our facility is climate-controlled year-round, with heating or air conditioning as needed to ensure a consistently comfortable environment for your cat. No dogs. No nonstop noise. Just peaceful vibes, comfy bedding, and the kind of care you’d expect from true cat people.
If your cat has been turned away by other groomers or had a bad experience elsewhere, give us a call. We’ll talk it through and come up with a plan.
